I did this in last month's issue of Town&Gown. I really like this layout. The idea came fast, which is great cause last month was busy as hell. Again stock art came to the rescue. Not crazy about the title, but I am happy with what i came up with.

Sometimes you only have a few good images to work with and you gotta come up with something great. Wait, MOST TIMES there are only a few good images to work with and... blah, blah, blah. Anyway good old stock needs to fill the gaps, and it did. I was really happy with this opening spread and still am.

Meyer Dairy, State College, PA

Whether it's myth or fact, I firmly believe milk is better in glass. I photographed this on an old table at my parent's house in Roaring Spring. I liked the table so much I took it back to my apartment in Altoona. Now I'm using it for food shots... go figure. The ice cream cone was a studio lighting shot but everything else is all natural light. Go to Meyer Dairy, the milk is absolutely tasty!

Ice Cream story

Ice cream is no fun to shoot. Yes, that is real. I hate the idea of a food photograph that's isn't real. No Elmer's and confectionary sugar there my friends! That's the real McCoy! The process went like this: Set up shot, sub dirty socks for ice cream. expose, juggle it a while. To the kitchen and scoop out the ice cream and slam it back in the freeze. Yank it back out, breath on it (softened it just slightly so sprinkles stuck) sprinkle it, slam it back in the fridge. Yank it back out, shoot it.
There you go. I did the layout too by the way. It's really nice to have full control. Well, almost full control editorial is always complaining about something. Commas, really who needs them?
